The main idea of the “METAMORPHOSES” concert is to show the metamorphosis or transformation of the accordionist through minimalist music. The journey begins with the classics of the genre (Steve Reich, Philip Glass) and moves on to more complex rhythms and sounds, including works created specifically for the accordion. The audience is arranged in a circle around the performer, the performer sits on a rotating chair, and all attention is focused on him with a single beam of light.
Albert Woelke is the first laureate of the Accordionfest scholarship.
This year, for the first time, Accordionfest awarded a scholarship to a young accordionist studying in Estonia to support the creative initiative and artistic self-expression of young accordionists. In addition to the financial scholarship, the prize was a concert at this year’s Accordionfest.
Program: Reich, Glass, Montague, Ganzer.
